John Orr, LPC • In-Person (Austin) • Virtual (Texas)
If you're facing struggles or important life questions, I'd be honored to help. I counsel diverse adults in-person at my office in Austin or online within Texas. I specialize in providing affirming counseling for folks with late-identified neurodivergence–autism, ADHD, AuDHD–or those who are questioning possible neurodivergence. I also love working with highly sensitive persons (HSPs) and folks who are dealing with anxiety, depression, job/career troubles, grief, challenges with relationships (romantic, family, or friends), unwanted behaviors, difficulty finding purpose or meaning, a desire for better self-care and greater self-compassion, echoes of wounds from childhood, or loneliness.
If you choose to work with me, you can expect me to be genuine, warm, straightforward, positive, caring, and non-judgmental. Many people seek to be challenged in counseling to expand beyond their “comfort zone” so that they can better pursue their goals, and I can work with you to identify when and how you prefer to be challenged. You may have needs or goals that are already very clear and well-defined, or you may be seeking self-exploration and insight to help you as you continue your life’s journey. While respecting your comfort level and moving at a pace that feels right to you, I will seek to get to know you more deeply and understand how we can tailor the counseling experience to best serve you.
Counseling can help create pathways to healing, self-knowledge, self-acceptance, a greater sense of purpose, more fulfilling relationships, more effective ways of managing life’s challenges, or a greater ability to act in alignment with what matters most to you.
However, many people find it challenging to get started. If that’s true for you, please know that it's totally normal. And it is important to find a counselor who’s a good fit for your personality, goals, and needs, so being thoughtful in your selection process can be helpful.
If you’d like to explore whether I may be a good fit as your counselor, I’d love to hear from you!
